How much does it cost to sell a vehicle with Sell My Classic?

The fee for selling a car is 4% +vat (Seller Fee).  With no ‘Buyer Fee’ we offer the industries lowest transactional fee – the combined transactional fee of a traditional classic car auction is circa 16%

What is the process for selling a car with Sell My Classic?

  1. Register your interest for a valuation https://sellmyclassic.co.uk/valuation/
  2. One of our valuation team will be in contact to discuss your vehicle. 
  3. We will then request images – the more you can provide the better (these can be uploaded via the website or whatsapp) 
  4. We will call you with your valuation. If you are happy with the valuation we can discuss setting a reserve and entering the car into our next 1 day sale.
  5. Sale Day – Your car is listed in a timed auction from 8am to 2pm, hundreds of approved classic car dealers and specialists are able to submit their highest bid (sealed bids)
  6. Once the sale has ended
  • If the highest bid exceeds the reserve price the vehicle is sold.
  • If the highest bid is below the reserve price we will submit the bid to the seller for review, all bids are legally binding and the seller shall have the option to accept or reject the bid. If the bid is rejected, the Dealer will have the option to increase their bid to the reserve price in order to complete the sale.
  1. Once the sale price has been agreed the Dealer will pay a 4% +vat deposit to complete the sale.
  2. Sell My Classic will then connect the Dealer and the Seller. The Dealer will contact the Seller within one (1) working day to arrange payment of the balance and collection. Collection is the responsibility of the Dealer.

How often do you have sales?

We currently sales every other Tuesday. The sale runs from 8am to 2pm.

Why is Sell My Classic different from other online auction platforms?

How long does it take for the car to be paid and collected?

Dealers are expected to complete payment and collection no later than 7 days after the sale unless mutually agreed otherwise.

What happens when the auction ends?

The Dealer pays a 4% deposit to secure the vehicle – once this has been processed you will receive a ‘confirmation of sale’ email. We connect you and the Dealer to arrange payment and collection. (The Dealer pays the balance directly to you)

How am I charged for selling a vehicle?

The Seller Fee is paid through the retention of funds (Deposit) payable directly to the company by the Dealer when the Auction ends. You will receive a receipt to confirm payment.

Can I sell a car if I am not in the UK?

Sure, 95% of our approved dealers are in the UK however we also have approved dealers in America and throughout Europe.

Can I edit my listing?

Once the sale is live, your listing is locked. You will however be able to reply to messages from potential buyers via your dashboard.

How does collection / delivery work?

Collection/Delivery is the responsibility of the Dealer.

Can I lower my reserve price after the vehicle has been consigned?

Yes, you can lower your reserve price, please speak to your account manager.

How do I register to buy?

Our Auctions are Trade-Only, if you are a Classic Car Dealer you can register here.

How can I change my password?

You can update your password via your dashboard – just click ‘Settings’ If you are unable to login please click ‘forgot password’ and we will send you a reset email.

Can I register for updates even though I am not selling my car yet?

Yes, join our newsletter to receive the latest updates.

I am not receiving updates even though I have subscribed?

Sometimes our system emails are tagged as spam by email providers, please check your spam / junk folder. You may also want the check the email we have on file is correct.
