How much does it cost to sell a vehicle with Sell My Classic?

It is completely free to sell a car with Sell My Classic – You get 100% of the Hammer Price! 

What is the process for selling a car with Sell My Classic?

  1. Enter your Reg number on, provide your mileage and contact details. 
  2. One of our valuation team will be in contact to discuss your vehicle. 
  3. We will then request images if you have not already uploaded them and find out a little more about your car. 
  4. We call you with your valuation. If you are happy with the valuation we can discuss setting a reserve and entering the car into our next 1 day auction.
  5. Sale Day – Your car is listed in a timed auction from 8am to 2pm, hundreds of approved classic car dealers compete against one another to buy your car.
  6. Once the sale has ended
  • If the highest bid exceeds your reserve price the vehicle is sold.
  • If the highest bid is below your reserve price we will submit the bid to your for review, all bids are legally binding and the seller shall have the option to accept or reject the bid. If the bid is rejected, the Dealer will have the option to increase their bid to the reserve price in order to complete the sale.
  1. Once the sale price has been agreed the Buyer will pay a non-refundable deposit to secure the car.
  2. The system will then unlock contact details and confirm sale price. The Buyer will contact the Seller within one (1) working day to arrange payment and collection. Collection is the responsibility of the Buyer.

How often do you have sales?

We have an auction every Tuesday. The sale runs from 8am and finishes in 5 minute intervals from 2pm.

– We do all the heavy lifting, following our initial discussion and you sending in additional photos you can leave the rest to us – we curate your listing, we advertise the car direct to potential Buyers, we host the sale, negotiate on your behalf if necessary etc.
– Potential Buyers can contact you direct via the ‘ask seller question’ button – all contact goes through the platform anonymously and your identity is private.

How long does it take for the car to be paid and collected?

Buyers are expected to complete payment and collection no later than 7 days after the sale unless mutually agreed otherwise.

What happens when the auction ends?

The Buyer pays a non-refundable deposit to secure the vehicle – once this has been processed you will receive a ‘confirmation of sale’ email. We connect you and the Buyer to arrange payment and collection. (The Buyer pays the full hammer price directly to you via instant bank transfer)

Can I sell a car if I am not in the UK?

Sure, 95% of our approved dealers are in the UK however we also have approved dealers in America and throughout Europe.

Can I edit my listing?

Once the sale is live, your listing is locked. You will however be able to reply to messages from potential Buyers via your dashboard.

How does collection / delivery work?

Collection/Delivery is the responsibility of the Buyer.

Can I lower my reserve price after the vehicle has been consigned?

Yes, you can lower your reserve price, please speak to your account manager.

Can I watch the auction live?

Yes, you can login and watch your auction live via your dashboard. You can also answer questions from potential Buyers.

How do I register to buy?

Our Auctions are Trade-Only, if you are a Classic Car Dealer you can register here.

How can I change my password?

You can update your password via your dashboard – just click ‘Settings’ If you are unable to login please click ‘forgot password’ and we will send you a reset email.

Can I register for updates even though I am not selling my car yet?

Yes, join our newsletter to receive the latest updates.

I am not receiving updates even though I have subscribed?

Sometimes our system emails are tagged as spam by email providers, please check your spam / junk folder. You may also want the check the email we have on file is correct.
