Owners of these classic cars due to the cars being forty years old can now take advantage of the historic vehicle tax exemption scheme, which exempts them from MOT tests and Vehicle Exercise Duty (VED). Vehicles built before January 1, 1983, and first registered in 1982 (with a registration number ending in X or Y), can apply for the exemption starting April 1, 2023.
